Swirling a Mystery

Mystery

for Kim Marie and Aunt Hinkle

The goal of this brightly colored blend was not only to blend images but somehow to blend personal styles as well. In this case, to blend the color and design styles of kimmg and Hinkle Hinkle with my mashup blending style.

The piece is inspired by Kim Marie's Life is a Mystery and the devotion to dedication of Hinkle.

The title is a play on words, starting with Kim's reference to the Madonna lyric in Life is a Mystery and twisting it, using the lovely fractal swirls of Fractal Ken, into a misquote of Sarah McLachlan's Building a Mystery:

I'm going to use the first set of comments to credit each of the pieces that went in to this unusual new blend.

The Lotus Mystery

What's in my bag?

I try to get into my suggested equipment area in the Digital SLR camera secion to keep it fresh every few months. I added a few new things this weekend and generally cleaned it up. Maybe you will see some goodies in there! It's sort of a text-version of what's in my bag.

Daily Photo - The Lotus Mystery

You perhaps have seen this "lotus" shape on the top of many SE Asian temples (and India as well as many more places). It's a peaceful and beautiful shape that has deep meaning to many of these cultures. There is something naturally soothing about its contours.

While I took this photo in Cambodia, a small Thai girl would come bring me hot Vietnamese coffees every 15 minutes or so. These are strong coffees that are mixed with sweet condensed milk. They are thick, sweet, and tasty. I remember it all fondly...

On most of these little trips, nothing goes as planned... but I go into the adventure knowing this will be the case, so I effortlessly roll through most of the mishaps because interesting and unexpected things always end up happening.

Photo Mystery of the Week
What exactly is the photo below? Be sure you zoom into the big size and poke around for clues....
Daily Photo - The Mysteries of the Boudoir
I found this gem while in New York during the book launch party there. It's one of those times when I am happy I carry my camera almost everywhere. It's a real pain, especially when I had a major disaster in a tiny robot-bathroom in Tokyo. That is a story I can't share on the blog because it's all too wheels-off. But, in this circumstance, having a camera worked out well.

Isn't this the strangest thing in the world? But it's so interesting.... I could not stop looking at it!
